'Life Cycle Costs', can be represented as: -
The Total Costs of a Building for its Effective Serviceable Lifetime.
However, this rather large concept for a Commercial or Industrial Building encompasses many elements, particularly where the period of time is of the order of twenty years of more. These may include staffing, energy running costs, maintenance, cleaning, repairs, decorating, heating, incoming services and changes of use, and indeed many others.
As demands placed upon the upkeep of Commercial or Industrial Buildings increase so does the need to offset these where practicable, for the survival of the Businesses they house, and the electrical and services performance play a large part of these demands.
For the development and construction of building projects, a greater consideration is now given to the concept of the overall Life Cycle Costs, particularly by Building owners and developers. This consideration takes the form of Environmental Impact to underpin the client’s confidence in the project’s viability at the design and costing stage.
